PPGSAT's headquarter is located in the monumental complex of the Bicentenary Faculty of Medicine of Bahia located in Terreiro de Jesus, Historic Center of Salvador. The program's dependencies are located on the second floor, with a pleasant panoramic view of the Baía de Todos os Santos (All Saints Bay), facing the Bibliotheca Gonçalo Muniz, which is in the process of completing extensive structural reform and the acquis. The spaces of the PPGSAT comprise a coordinating room (15 m²), Secretariat (36 m²), classroom 1 with capacity for 60 chairs (~ 80 m²), computer lab with 10 computers connected to the Internet and capacity for 20 seats (32 m2), teachers ' Room 1 ( 18 m²) and teachers ' Room 2, PET program (18 m²), and storeroom (18 m²). The right foot of the entire building is 5.70 m2. All these environments are adequately air-conditioned. Eventually, the MSAT uses the Amphitheatre Monumental Alfredo Britto, of FAMEB, with 250 seats, three levels, for events of greater size and relevance and the classroom 2 of FAMEB, with capacity for 60 seats (~ 68 m²). The classrooms, the computer lab and the amphitheatre are all equipped with equipment for audio-visual projection (laptop + data-show). Photos from the headquarters of PPGSAT and FMB are available on the home page of the program.
The change of professors from the DMPS to the monumental building of the FMB occurred definitively in 2012. This brought greater cohesion and ease of communication among the DMPS that comprise the majority of the professors of the PPGSAT, now aggregated in a single physical space.
In 2012, the partnership with the Public Prosecutor's Office of the State of Bahia yielded a donation to PPGSAT, of equipment worth approximately R$70,000, 00. The intermediation of the master student Camila Lessa de Almeida, an employee of MPT-BA, was fundamental in this process. Donated equipment: a Noise Dosimeter, model Noise ProDL/10, Quest brand; a Noise Dosimeter, model EG4-D brand Quest; a Noise Level Analyzer, model SounPro DL-2-1/3, Quest brand; a Stress Monitor (IBUTG), Questtemp model 34/6, Quest brand; an Acoustic Calibrator, model QC-10, Brand Quest (w/calibration certificate); five GPX Rechargeable Digital Voice Recorders; two Black Digital Cameras Mirage 14MP 8X ZOOM LCD 2.7; 15 Desktops UPD BITWAY ATOM D425 2 GB DVD-RW S + R + V; 15 LED monitors 15, "6 WIDESCREEN BLACK-PIANO KMEX Mod. Laboratories:
Laboratory of Environmental Analytical Chemistry of UFBA (LAQUAM)
Infrastructure: total physical area of 295 m², distributed in five laboratories, four of environmental chemical analyses and one of water purification.
Main equipments: Gas Chromatograph with dual detection of mass spectrometry (MS/MS)/ Gas Chromatograph with electronic capture detection (ECD)/ Gas Chromatograph with flame ionization detection (FID)/ Total Reflection X-ray fluorescence/ Dynamic Calibrator Gas/ Continuous Sulfide Gas Monitor/ Continous NOx Monitor/ Continuous Ozone Monitor/ Continuous SO2 Monitor/ High Pressure Liquid Chromatograph, with UV/Vis detectors, fluorescence and diode scan/ Chemiluminescence Analyzer for Hydrogen Peroxide/ Spectrofluorometer.
Main activities: Characterization of Atmospheric Physics and Chemistry and its behavior (inorganic and organic compounds)/ Chemical Characterization of Marine Environments/ Quality Control of Environmental Chemical data/ Development of Methods Analytical and Sampling/ Development of Abatement Techniques/ Eemediation of Pollutants/ Effect of Chemical Substances in fauna, flora and human health/ Chemical Monitoring of air, water, soil, flora, fauna and human health (including professional exposure)/ Climate Change.
The fixed chemical team of the LAQUAM, led by the coordinator Prof. Tania M. Tavares, is formed by chemical analysts, with an area of concentration in environmental analytical chemistry and five master/doctors researchers, three of whom with training of Short or long duration abroad and a technical research assistant with doctorate degree and a technician in the administrative area. Each of the researchers has different specialties, dividing between gaseous/liquid (atmosphere) and liquid/solid medium (aquatic, marine and terrestrial), and between inorganic compounds and organic compounds. The concern with the control and quality assurance of analytical data has been a prominent factor of this team.
Since the beginning of the decade of 80, LAQUAM participates in international calibration exercises, with advice from institutions of the USA and European Union, particularly from Germany, a country that stands out in the development of analytical chemistry of traits and Data quality criteria.
Libraries:
The library Bibliotheca Gonçalo Muniz of the Faculty of Medicine of the Terreiro de Jesus is widely used by students of the PPGSAT, especially the pleasant consultation room, with their computers connected to the bilingual system of UFBA. Eventually, the PPGSAT used the spaces of this historical Bibliotheca to conduct micro-meetings and teach classes in 2012.
The Library of the Faculty of Medicine of Bahia, located in Vale do Canela, occupies an area of 926, 07 m², gathers works from 1970, with books, periodicals, theses, video tapes, a large reading hall and video library. The library is an island of CAPES portal, with 10 computers available for access to the content of international journals and referential databases. The library is a cooperative center of the BIREME-Virtual Health library-which makes available to professionals in this area, technical-scientific information produced nationally and internationally. The staff includes two libraries linked to the faculty, four support staff and two BIREME libraries. In 2012, as occurs annually, the PPGSAT included early in its didactic program, lecture in the Central Library of the UFBA rector Luiz Fernando Macedo Costa, on the resources and use of the library system of UFBA and FMB.
Computer Resources:
At the headquarters of the PPGSAT, the Computer Lab's equipped with 12 computers connected to the internet and capacity for 20 seats. The Secretariat has eight network points that allow contact with the worldwide network of computers. The same happens with the classrooms and the professor' rooms (six internet points, in all). The system has efficient support from the FAMEB-UFBA Help-Desk.
Also on the campus of Vale do Canela, PPGSAT has the support of the Department of Preventive and Social medicine of UFBA that participates in the Occupational Health Service (SESAO), an outpatient clinic specialized in worker's health, linked to the complex-HUPES-UFBA. There are 315 m² of physical area, providing, in addition to the five ambulatories and the dependencies used by the administrative sector of the service: a Research Room, three computers connected to the internet and a classroom for 20 people, with equipment "Data-show".
